For customers looking to drill all holes in a single production process – fully automatically, precisely and according to individual customer requirements – IMA Schelling has a range of new drilling concepts on offer: the IMAGIC HP high-performance drilling machine, the IMAGIC L1-U drilling machine for batch sizes of 1, and a front drilling machine developed in collaboration with the ZIMMER Group.
IMAGIC HP: Modular and freely configurable
The IMAGIC HP is a high-performance drilling machine in a fully modular design. Its strengths lie in its flexibility: the drilling units can be arranged in assemblies to meet the exact requirements of the respective production process. For increased efficiency, the individual drilling modules can be combined and configured for a production output of up to 100 parts/min. What’s special here is that the machines operate at a maximum 25 drilling cycles per minute in the respective performance levels, ensuring that the stress on the components used is kept to a minimum.
IMAGIC L1-U: Focussed on transport processes
The highly flexible IMAGIC L1-U drilling machine for batch sizes of 1 boasts an innovative transport system. New clamping grippers and changing the clamping side during production make it possible to machine workpieces during return transport, meaning the return run is no longer idle. This not only increases machining efficiency, but also reduces space requirements: in a two-bridge version of the production line, up to eight processing stations can be accommodated in a comparatively small area. This results in a significant increase in performance and a high degree of flexibility in terms of system configuration.
Front drilling machine: automated and highly flexible
IMA Schelling developed the front drilling machine together with our technology partner ZIMMER. Five special robots deliver a highly automated machining process. A measuring module is followed by the units for drilling, milling and setting fittings and hinges, while loading and unloading are performed by robots from or into trolleys. Thanks to this type of automation, it’s possible to process even widely varying orders reliably, efficiently and free of errors.
Modular, scalable and automated. IMA Schelling supplies drilling technology for a wide range of production scenarios – from large series to batch size 1.
