Single-use pallets are usually discarded after transport and have to be disposed of accordingly. Large volumes of residual wood also accumulate during repairs of multi-use pallets such as the well-known europallet, for instance when used pallets are sorted or individual elements are exchanged. A similar fate awaits wooden packaging of all kinds, for instance large crates for vegetables or fruit as well as all other types of wooden packaging. The metal used in the production of such packaging, such as nails, screws, staples or also entire fittings, represent a challenge when shredding pallets. Our shredders are robust enough to cope easily with such extraneous mate – rials. They are simply shredded along with the product, after which they are efficiently separated from the wood granulate using magnet separators. The wood chips thus generated are ideal for thermal utilisation for example. The process heat thus generated may be used to heat buildings or for the heat treatment of pallets that need to comply with the requirements of the IPPC standard. The granulate is also suitable for material recovery and may be used for the production of pallet blocks, chipboard panels and OSB.
